When traveling abroad, you always hope your internet data doesn't run out. Here are some ways to reduce data usage when using eSIM:
iPhone
Method 1: Enable "Low Data Mode"
From iOS 13 onwards, the low data mode is supported, which can reduce data usage. You can set it separately for Wi-Fi and cellular data. Here’s how:
- Open Settings.
- Tap on Cellular.
- Tap on your eSIM plan.
- Tap on Data Mode.
- Select Low Data Mode.
Method 2: Turn off Wi-Fi Assist and iCloud Backup
Wi-Fi Assist and iCloud Backup are turned on by default. If you don’t want to use eSIM data when the Wi-Fi signal is weak, you can turn off Wi-Fi Assist. Also, turning off iCloud Backup can reduce data usage. Here are the steps:
- Open Settings.
- Tap on Cellular.
- Scroll to the bottom of the menu and turn off Wi-Fi Assist.
- Turn off iCloud Backup.
And you're done!
Android
Android phones offer a data saver feature that reduces data usage by limiting background data consumption for certain apps.
Samsung Galaxy Phones
- Open Settings and tap on Connections.
- Tap on Data Usage.
- Tap on Data Saver.
- Tap Turn on now.
Google Phones
- Open Settings and tap on Network & Internet.
- Tap on Data Saver.
- Turn on Use Data Saver.
This way, you can easily reduce eSIM data usage and not worry about running out of internet while abroad!
